La Peregrina original weight was 223.8 grains (55.95 carats). In 1913 after the pearl was further drilled, cleaned, and polished, it had a weight of 203.84 grains (50.96 carats). The drilling was necessitated in order to secure it firmly to its setting, as the pearl was nearly lost on at least three different occasions after it had fallen off from its setting.

The Pelegrina (spelled with an L and not an R) did its entry in the Spanish court in the 1640s.
It is considerably smaller then the "real one".
Philip IV
gave it as a wedding present to his daughter Maria Theresea.
There is much confusion about the two names and often are mixed up in articles.
But it is important to remember that the Pelegrina (with an L) just over half the weight of the Peregrina (with an R).

The Gogibus pearl can be seen here. It is chunky. Much bigger than the Peregrina.
