The initial property with Palms Elysian was 32 acres. Today it is 66 acres.

Over 25 years John spent $250,000 on landscaping, fountains, statues and walks.

 

When John died the old Thompson home was still there. It had been moved to the area, where now the circus museum is, when they started to build Ca d'Zan. In 1946 it was still there with all its original furnuishings, but had fallen in state of decay and Austin had it demolished.

David sculpture is not from 1874. Hight does not match. It is a cast of a cast.
